Saturday 18 March saw the third leg of our shore league sponsored by Daiwa fishing tackle at Cushendun beach.
Here's the recorders report.
Match three.
Venue: Cushendun 1800-2300hrs
Tide/sea state: Two and a half hours up and the same down. Fairly calm conditions.
Weather: slight breeze and frequent torrential downpours.
Species caught: coalie, pollack, codling, rockling, flounder, plaice and dab.
This was our final match before the "spring break" and it was hard enough going for some anglers with everyone working hard to scratch out mostly small fish. This was expected, considering the time of year and the calm conditions we were fishing.

Cash was paid for 1st to 3rd and tackle prizes were given for 4th and 5th places.
That's our match fishing finished for a couple of months as spring is generally a lean time for shore fishing in N.I.
Our next outing will be a roving plaice hunt at the end of May and our next pegged match will be in the Foyle basin where hopefully the flounders will be back feeding hard after spawning.
