Federation members stories: Catherine Mckee

What it means to go fishing to some people? Here are a few federation members stories and experience of the sheer enjoyment and fun you can have with fishing and joining our federation. This account is from a Lady member of ours Catherine Mckee, an ex Team Ireland captain and gold medal winner of the home nations in Wales. All by the time she was 18.

Hi I’m Catherine McKee aged 22.I started fishing at 17 years old, my dad was delighted that I finally lifted a rod. I was reluctant at first but after a few competitions and a winning streak I had caught the fishing bug. I love the outdoor air and fish in all weathers. I now dig my own bait after refusal from pops to keep doing it. My boyfriend is now as keen, if not keener to take part. I have taught him my casting skills and he is now hooked. Spring and summer evenings and autumn and winter nights and weekends are now spent on the beach with a very competitive edge to our fishing. NIFSA is great as it will soon give me the chance to fish for Northern Ireland.
